Report - Fishing trip to Scotland Dee - June 2025

Beautiful flowers and a dry gauge...

These springers are fine fish...

The Scots are good at making things work for their fishers.

Good food and drink belong on our trips to Scotland for salmon fishing.

Stein Atle joined us on beautiful Dee for the first time. Here on the tree root at Woodend in lovely evening sun. Good memories.

Our 2 weeks on Dee in June became two weeks with plenty of fun, good stories, good food and brilliant sunshine most of the time. The fishing itself was marked by very low water flow in Dee. The locals said there had been almost no rain for more than two months, which was clear on the water gauge. It was dry most of the time.

The fishing was adapted to the conditions, and we landed both salmon and sea trout, which was good considering the conditions. Many thanks to everyone who joined and made the weeks on Dee so memorable. It is special to be on one of the world's most beautiful fly fishing rivers, hunting springers. There is so much history in and along the river, but also in the unique fishing huts along Dee. If only they could speak. Many a good story has been told here, with a small dram alongside.

It must also be mentioned that after visiting River Dee for more than 25 years, I have never seen so many fry in all sizes. Not in Dee, nor in any other river. There were enormous amounts of fry everywhere we visited, and we also registered freshwater pearl mussels around the river. This is a very good sign, and we are optimistic about the future for Dee. We also take into account that in recent years the summer fishing has improved strongly.

We look ahead and hope that our next trip to Dee in July this year will give us more good fishing memories from this fantastic river.

Many thanks to everyone who joined us on Dee during this June period. It was very enjoyable, and we hope for better water flow next June, because this was truly pleasant.
