Hunting and fishing through generations
The river Em has its outlet in Kalmarsund and is described as Småland's pearl and one of Sweden's best rivers for salmon and sea trout. Here, kings, princes and ihuga fly fishermen from large parts of the world have experienced fantastic fishing in unique surroundings for generations.
From the 16th century and the beginning of the 18th century, the family Skytte, Mørner and Fahlstrøm managed the area by Em. From 1765 the Ulfsparre family took over and in 1906 a limited company was established for hunting and fishing at Em Herregård. This is still the case and today the operation is adapted to modern fishing at the same time as the historical environment, equipment and profile at Herregården are intact. This makes the stay at Em Herregård something completely unique for today's modern fly fishermen.

Kent Håkansson is a fish manager at Em Herregård. Kent lives and works by the river at Herregården and receives guests on arrival. Kent's experience and knowledge in fly fishing in general and Herregården seems clear when Kent takes guests on a tour along the banks of the Ems. He likes to tell about the history and about the many large fish that over the years have been landed on this unique fishing line in the lower parts of the river.
Many believe that Em has the world's largest sea trout of all time. Others believe that it is the river Rio Grande in Argentina that has delivered the largest. But in any case, the river Em is one of the few rivers throughout history, even today, that holds some of the world's largest sea trout.
