EIO

Eio is a wild and beautiful western river with its source from Norway's and Europe's largest mountain plateau, the Hardangervidda. The river Eio is the lower part of the Eidfjord watercourse and flows from Eidfjordvannet down to the Eidfjord which is located in the innermost part of the Hardangerfjord. The Eidfjord watercourse also consists of the rivers Bjoreio and Veig. The town of Eidfjord is located in Hardanger in Hordaland county and is located at the foot of the Hardangervidda, Eidfjordvegen 216. Close by you will find famous attractions such as Sima power plant, Vøringsfossen, Kjeåsen among others.

The lower part of the Eidfjord watercourse from Eidfjordvannet and down to the sea in Eidfjorden forms the lower part of the watercourse and is the part that is most attractive to the fly fisherman. Eio is known for its large fish stock and although the salmon is currently protected, fishing for sea trout is very exciting. Here you will find large specimens of the Salmo trout and the fishing is well organized with only 6 rods across the river, 3 on each side. Gap huts have been set up and it is a short distance from Kvamsdal guest house, which is often the fisherman's base during his stay in Eidfjord.

The evening fishing on the lower part of Eidfjordvannet "Soget" among the locals, is very exciting and here you can still see large fish rolling in the surface. A treat across here at the right time, and it can quickly explode out there…

Good luck
