Fish and chips is a winner in Scotland. And the version we had at the hotel was brilliant. Many thanks to the kitchen for serving such good food throughout the week.
The salmon trip to Scotland and River Thurso has now clearly become one of our favourite trips. Here we experience good salmon history in fantastically charming surroundings. We fish one of Scotland's best salmon rivers. The catches can be very good, as this year, even though the water flow was not optimal throughout our week.
Åke and Bosse from Sweden joined us to Thurso for the first time. And what wonderful memories it became for our Swedish fishing friends. Åke landed two fine fish already on the first day. He followed up with more and even achieved a new personal best on a single-handed fly rod for salmon. Bosse got to feel one of the larger salmon in Thurso. A strong and fine fish of around 9.6 kg. This was fun, and we would not be surprised if both Bosse and Åke have found themselves a new favourite river in September for the years to come.
For Trond and Håvard from Bergen, there were also fine and good moments with some of the river's fine salmon. We are sure this fishing rotation gave a taste for more, and we all know the good feeling you get when you arrive at a fine salmon pool with perfect current, while salmon show themselves on the surface.
There were a number of these experiences during the week, and it is especially good to see that some rivers around the place still have a good stock of salmon.
Bosse with a fine Thurso salmon from beat 2. Congratulations Bosse.
This was a very pleasant and good salmon trip, and we are already looking forward to the next trip to Thurso.
