The trip to Iceland and Litlaà this year became a great experience, in so many ways. The group of 5 fishers plus yours truly experienced plenty of fun, even after having the journey to Iceland rebooked several times due to a few centimetres of snow at Gardermoen on departure. You would think Avinor in Oslo would be better prepared for a little snow in April, but they were not this year. Disappointing.
But the fishers were not affected by Avinor, nor by the demanding weather during the stay this time. Minus degrees throughout the trip gave extra challenges with ice in the guides and cold fingers at times. But experience and good determination made the fishing and the stay into a fantastic trip. Many thanks to everyone who joined. This was great.
Many fine trout were landed during our 4 full days of fishing. The largest fish, a brown trout of 72 cm, fat and beautiful, gave Asle K. a fantastic fight. My goodness, what a fine fish this was. So too was the one of 70 cm and all the others from 50 cm and upwards. There were also a few smaller fish between 40 and 50 cm, and in total more than 40 trout were landed, as well as some fine Arctic char. Absolutely fantastic under the conditions we had. No wonder the atmosphere at dinner was good evening after evening, with one story after another told with laughter and enthusiasm. Brilliant. Below are some pictures from the trip.
Kjetil S.'s fish was also one of the extra fine fish landed on the trip. This was brilliant, Kjetil, and we congratulate you once again. Picture below.
The two flies that produced the most fish were March Brown and Black Ghost. There was little opportunity for dry fly fishing as the conditions were too cold. We hope that will be better on the next trip. More pictures follow.
The fish in the picture above was caught by Asle N. from Bergen. This shows how the Litlaà fish are in form and colour already in April. They have a fantastic K factor and are also incredibly strong fish. This one took a lightly weighted Black Ghost in Hofdata, a pool that delivers fine catches year after year and must surely be one of the very best trout pools to be found. We love this pool and all the others lying in a row in Litlaà.
Again, thank you to everyone who joined us in Iceland on this fantastic trip. Truly a trip that goes into the history books as one of the most enjoyable ever.
Best regards from a very satisfied tour leader
