River Eqalussussuit, Greenland
Greenland – River Eqalussussuit

Arctic char fishing in Greenland, in wild and untouched nature. North Camp sits close to the river, with short distances to beautiful pools.

This trip is now fully booked for 2026.
We are planning a new trip in the same period for 2027. Please get in touch if you would like to reserve a place or receive more information.
River Eqalussussuit in Greenland is a brilliant destination for fly fishing for Arctic char. In August there is usually plenty of fish in the river, and conditions can be very good.
The lodge is located right by the river, with a short walk to beautiful pools close to camp. If you want to walk upstream, you will find excellent areas that few fly fishers have experienced so far. Here you are almost completely alone with the fishing group.
The trip we arranged in the same period in 2024 became a fantastic fishing and nature experience for everyone who joined us.
North Camp is a tent lodge with a large communal tent for breakfast, lunch, dinner and social time. Each angler has their own tent close to the main tent, with the necessary equipment. There is a toilet and a simple shower at the camp.
The camp has a skilled cook who serves good meals throughout the stay. Packed lunches are made and adapted to each guest. Alcoholic drinks are not served at the camp, but these can be bought in Sisimiut and brought along if desired.
The only things you need to bring are a sleeping bag, fishing gear, suitable clothing and a good mood.
Travel details for August 2026:
The trip starts on 24 August. Return is on 4 September.
The package includes full board with breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are 10 rods available at the tent lodge. The number of full fishing days is 6, plus a half day of fishing on arrival. This depends on tide and conditions.
The journey starts with meeting in Copenhagen. From there, the flight goes to Greenland and the town of Sisimiut. There will be hotel accommodation in Sisimiut on arrival and departure. The return follows the same route back to Copenhagen.
From Sisimiut there is private boat transport from the town centre to the camp. Departure is adjusted to high tide on arrival at camp.
Sisimiut is the largest town and administrative centre in Qeqqata Municipality on the west coast of Greenland. The town has around 5,500 inhabitants and is Greenland’s second largest town. It lies 42 km north of the Arctic Circle and is Greenland’s northernmost harbour that remains ice-free all year.
2instincts brings a tour leader on the trip to Greenland.
Fly fishing instruction, presentation work and guidance in and along the river are part of the fishing package. We help participants with fly choice, presentation, strategy and practical fishing throughout the stay.
The river holds plenty of fine Arctic char, and this is the fish we focus on. There are also opportunities near the river mouth for other species if you want to try your luck there.
For river fishing for Arctic char, we recommend a single-handed rod or a light switch rod, preferably in classes 5 to 7. A floating line has produced very good fishing over time and is the main line we recommend.
A tapered leader works well, with a tippet from 0.26 to 0.30 mm.
When it comes to flies, streamers, nymphs and not least bombers and foam flies in different colours work very well. We offer our own fly package if needed.
We also offer loan of fishing equipment if desired.
For clothing during the fishing, we recommend waist or chest waders. Not because deep wading is normally required, but because on some days it can be useful to cross the river to the opposite bank.
The terrain is easy to walk, and this is unproblematic for most people.
Wool underwear, a neck gaiter, hat, cap, sunglasses, gloves and sunscreen are smart to keep in your pack or in the pocket of your wading jacket. Most people will also find a light backpack or waist pack useful, especially if lunch is taken outside while walking along the river in search of new takes.
Greenland has fantastic untouched nature and world-class fishing.
